Granular mineral fertilizers
One of the forms of fertilizer production is granules resembling small balls with a diameter of 1.5–5 mm. The advantages of granular mineral fertilizers over, for example, fertilizers in the form of powder, are that the former have much lower consumption. So, 1.5 times less granular ammonium nitrate than powdered saltpeter should be applied to the same area, and 2 times less superphosphate than an analog in powder form.
An undoubted plus is that granular mineral fertilizers are convenient to store: they do not clump and do not stick (if the storage conditions indicated on the package are observed). They are easy to put into the soil, they are not carried by the wind (the granules are quite heavy), while the powdered product can be dispersed even by not very strong gusts.
